EDIT: After getting up today and scrolling through the chapter, I decided that I needed to rewrite and edit a few parts. I’ve worked on it the entire day yesterday and at the end of it, I didn’t have any more energy left to edit it. Maybe I shouldn’t have posted it then, but I guess I was too ecstatic, that I wrote another part of the Shinsengumi family, that I couldn’t not post it. Forgive my enthusiasm?

Hi guys!

I know you'll probably kill me for this, but I came to torture your eyes with my scribbles, that I call fanart.
I'm not sure what it's with me lately, but I seem not to be able to let go of my pencils instead of my pens. Maybe I just need to draw, because I've been writing all too many things and my mind needs to distract itself. And maybe it's because this summer I had the chance to develope a little my drawing skills and now I feel like exploading from this need to draw. And maybe after a developement in writing skills, my drawing skills want to evolve too.

Well, anyway.

Whatever it is, it just happens that I'm in drawing mood lately. And just yesterday I stumbled across some ancient fanarts, that I started drawing years ago, but never finished them. As I opened the folder and saw the fanarts, for several moments my vision went dark and then I started correcting them. I still don't think they're perfect, but they're better than before and I decided they deserve to be posted and con-criticised.

Notes: You know like in Prince of Tennis there were these Chibi episodes with the Seishun family? Where every member of the team was switched to a tag of the family? Well, it’s generally the same idea here, just without the chibifieing. There’s a Shinsengumi family, there’s an Oni family and there are troubles and humor, I guess? Ah hell, I don’t know either what hit me. Actually, I was planning to write a one-shot for halloween (a spin-off from Price of your Heart, the one where Shinkawa-chan walks in on them, actually) when this popped into my mind and didn’t let go. This is what inspired me and this is what I imagine their relationship is like. Just...just tell me what you think.

No. And I doubt there'll ever be one...Whcih on hindsight might be a pity. If I imagine Osamu driving Gwendal mad...it'd be a lot like it's with Yozak, just a bit more psycho.

2. Do you think three is hot? How hot?

Seen episode 9? THAT HOT. And very very moe.

3. What would happen if six got one pregnant?

Oh dear God. 2/Shinpachi would go ballistic. Sano would attempt to kill Conrad. Yozak would attempt to kill Conrad. (Or laugh his ass off). There would be lots of golden-eyed, auburn-haired, swordsman/spearman hybrid babies and generally, all hell would break loose. It would be insanely cute, though.

4. Do you recall any good fics about nine?

Yes, there are ~~very few~~ people who write an awesome Sanji.

5. Would seven and two make a good couple?

Sakaki and Shinpachi? This is past my imagination. But...Sakaki is a great coach, Shinpachi a great swordsman and both (I imagine) sexually frustrated (if we go by the canon of the animes). It could work.

6. Four/eight or four/nine?

Sure. I don't see any person whom Yozak wouldn't go with. If nothing else, he's a good fight for both Zoro and Sanji. Actually, they even might make a good threesome xD

7. What would happen if seven discovered three and eight in a secret relationship?

Collect the information for later use. But other than that, he would be probably pretty cool about it. There's no situation I can imagine Sakaki freaking out about. Though Zoro and Saito in a relationship is a very good candidate for a brain freeze

8. Make a summary of at least twenty words for a two/six fic.

Shinpachi and Conrad? Easy.

Left alone in a world that's alien to him, Shinpachi finds reassurance in the comforting silvery gleam of a blade in the swordsman honeygolden eyes.

9. Is there a such thing as a four/ten romantic fluff story?

Not that I know of. However Osamu/Yozak gives a lot of room for a sarcastic fic full of psycho, angst, spying, crossdressing and general madness. And Tennis, probably. Somehow. No fluff though.

10. Suggest a title for a one/five Hurt/Comfort fic.

Rock in the Storm. I can imagine it well for Sano and Gwendal. The slightly unstable Sano with the seppuku scar and the sure and firm Gwendal, with his reassuring hold around him.

11. What kind of plot would you use if four wanted to seduce one?

Yozak seducing Sano?! xD Oh God, let's see. Lots and lots of crossdressing with lots and lots of lacey stuff, garters and shameless flirting. Not that Sano would mind, though ;) He would totally let himself be seduced by a sexy redhead. And he would appreciate the extra effort, the smart, perverted, sexy, redheaded smooth-talker he is himself. However, I have no idea who would top.

12. Does anyone on your friends list read number seven/nine slash?

Sakaki and Sanji? No.

13. If you wrote a songfic about number ten, what song would you chose?

Either something psychotic, or something bittersweet and forlorn.

14. If you wrote a two/three/six fic, what would the warning be?

Heavy usage of swords. ...Great, now I won't get the images out of my head! (I mean, really, what else could I warn from in a Shinpachi/Saito/Conrad fic?)

15. What pick-up line might eight use on five?

Zoro picking up Conrad? "I hear you're the best swordsman around here. Fight me for your title."
(Either that, or: "I've got three swords, I top.")

16. Challenge: Write a drabblefic for ten/eight.

I'm actually beginning to think that to change this meme was a bad idea. How the hell am I supposed to write an Osamu/Zoro drabble? Ah well, here goes nothing:

Really, it figures, Osamu thought. If he thought that a bunch of lunatics to coach in his first teaching year was bad, then this was even deeper than the bottom of the pit, he had fallen into when he got into this strange, strange world. Pirates were just the beginning, really. Cooks that could break your spine with a swing of their leg, woman that could grow multiple limbs in just one moment, sugar-high rubber boys with a strawhat, singing cyborgs, musician skelettons, reindeer doctors...and marimos that challenged you to a fight and then somehow grew three heads, six arms, six feet and somwhere in between that managed to carry nine swords. Somehow, and Osamu didn't know how, Zoro thought that he was a worthy match and kept challenging him for the purpose to grow stronger. Osamu sometimes just wished he would finally wake up from this nutcase of a dream, but then, in between the next disaster this insane crew got themselves into, the realization, that this was indeed real, hit him and he had to force himself to accept it. Sometimes he missed his bunch of lunatics. But then Zoro would stick his head out of the crow's nest and challenge him again and Osamu would slowly begin to accept his fate. And just as slowly he would begin to not mind as much. After all, there were so many amusing things one could do with three heads, six arms and six legs. And maybe there was a way he could convince Zoro to let him use those nine swords for a much more pleasent way of piercing through a body... From behind the gelley, Zoro appeared, challenge clear in his eyes. Osamu grinned evilly.

Author’s notes

No, I actually don’t have the time to write this. Yes, I should be working on something else, namely my thesis. I really love this challenge, don’t I?

Set during the early Meiji Restoration, during Shinpachi’s time under the protection of Matsumae in Edo. The historical facts as they appear in the fic are checked and in a large quantity taken from this site.
Also, this fic points back to several previous chapters of the challenge, namely „Meet me there“, „Rear guard“ and „Wearing the attire“. Most of the early Meiji chapters will do that, so if you haven’t read the Hekketsu-roku chapters, or have forgotten the details, at least scroll over them again. It gives a nice whole, when you do, however, it is not recquired in order to understand the chapter. There will be one more Hekketsu-roku chapter, but I haven’t started writing it yet and since my time is limited now, I decided to work on those chapters I have at least written a line in. Once I have the time I’ll write it, prioriticised.

It seems I have gotten out of my lethargy, finally. Sorry...Just for some while now I felt like throwing everything away, like school, life, writing, etc. I get like that every year, at this time (autumn, early winter), so you don’t have to panic, or worry of actually me doing that. As for the shot: This starts the main arc of the SSL AU shots. Turns out that the whole SSL arc of the challenge can be viewed as a continuous fanfic. It will be divided into parts. The filler parts – two have already been written („Monday Sorrows“ and „Weekend of eternity“), two will come between the two roots of the main arc – PRICE and HEART, each of 3 shots.
PRICE will be the more angsty part, where the pair will suffer a lot, HEART where the angst will settle and their lives will be...not spoiling you, sorry. The filler shots will be focusing on the school life, the troubles of their students (mainly Okita and Heisuke, but Saito and Hijikata-sensei will play a role too) and everything else started in the previous shots.
And then I thought about making 4 side-shots seasonally themed, glimpses between the scenes, what didn’t fit into the shots. They would be set between the chapters of PRICE and HEART, kinda like a leaf on a branch. But that’s still far away. I will make them on the end, if. Maybe I’ll put them into the spin off arc I’m planning for this, but still haven’t given green for it.
The last for the SSL AU will be the conclusion post, where every storyline that was started here will be brought to an end, or get a conclusion. Kinda like „a year later“. I daresay, you will be suprised at the outcome of some.

Notes
Another SSL shot, 2nd in the arc, features Harada-sensei and Nagakura-sensei in their everyday life as teachers. Here I have to mention that english is not my first language, therefore many of the terms used in school, as the names of the gym utensils, are not known to me. I took a dictionary and translated them how I best found fit. If you find words that are incorrect, or not used in that sense and know the correct term, please tell me. I’m going to need it in the future.

It’s set more or less directly after the first one, the first day after Chirstmas break. In the last part they have been writing with the kids their mid-term exams. I wrote it before I got the information that the school year in Japan starts in April and ends in March. However, there are always some exams written, so you can take it that they were some random tests, or season-exams (if a thing like this doesn’t exist, I’m borrowing artistic licence and making it up). I’m also aware that there isn’t a Christmas break in Japan, but it suited the mood, so you can take it as another artistic licence.
